Earlier, several American media outlets, including the Washington Post, CNN, and the New York Times, blamed Israeli documents for the killing of Abu Aqla, claiming that the Palestinian-American journalist had been shot dead by Zionist militants. The Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth also announced Friday that the UN Human Rights Council will publish an investigation focusing on Israel’s responsibility for the assassination of Shirin Abu Aqla.

The killing of 51-year-old Abu Aqla, a Palestinian-American dual citizen who has been reporting on the conflict and events in the occupied territories, especially in the West Bank, for 20 years has sparked global outrage and protest.

Al-Jazeera Qatar on June 17th published details of the assassination of the Palestinian journalist Abu Aqla by the Zionists.

According to this report, the bullet used to assassinate Abu Aqla was of a type that passed through the shield and broke it. The bullet was 5.56 mm caliber and was used by the occupying Zionist forces.

A reporter for Al-Jazeera Qatar was shot dead by Israeli forces on May 12 during news coverage of a Zionist attack on a fetal refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. He wore a hat and a vest that clearly identified him as a journalist.

Abu Aqela, who has been working with Al-Jazeera since 1997, was martyred during news coverage of an Israeli attack on Jenin with live ammunition by Zionist militants.

Many countries, institutions and international organizations, in response to the killing of Abu Aqla, condemned the Zionist crime and demanded that the Zionist regime be held accountable for this atrocity and that an investigation be carried out, but the Zionist regime canceled the investigation into the murder of Abu Aqla. He has no intention of opening an investigation into the journalist’s death.
