Trump and his family did not hand over the gifts received from foreign officials to the government treasury

Pak Sahafat – The Committee on Oversight and Accountability of the US House of Representatives announced that Donald Trump and his family have not yet disclosed more than 100 gifts worth 300,000 dollars that they received from foreign officials and have not delivered them to the state treasury.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from Hill magazine, according to the oversight and accountability committee of the US House of Representatives, Trump along with his wife and other family members (his sons, daughters and son-in-law) have received more than 117 gifts from foreign officials during his presidency, which they have not yet given to the government treasury.

According to American law, the president and his family are not allowed to personally keep gifts worth more than $415 from foreign governments, and in fact, they must accept these gifts on behalf of the government and then return them to the treasury.

Normally, gifts above 415 dollars should be publicly disclosed first and then delivered to the national archives of the country.

After Trump left office, the State Department reported that the fate of items of significant value was unknown and that a lack of accurate records and proper physical security controls contributed to the missing gifts.

The US State Department even announced in a report that the former president’s office failed to provide a list of foreign gifts for 2020.
