TikTok is banned in half of America

Pak Sahafat – More than half of the American states have banned the use of TikTok software in government offices and institutions.

According to Pak Sahafat news agency, citing Sputnik, American sources announced on Tuesday that more than half of the American states have banned the use of Tik Tok video platform.

The reason for banning Tiktok in government agencies is due to national security concerns.

It has been said that at least 31 US states have restricted access to Tik Tok in government agencies. Also, 9 American states have banned other similar software related to China, including WeChat.

The decision to ban this Chinese social network, which has more than 100 million users in America, has been approved in both Republican and Democratic states.

Restrictions against the Chinese software Tik Tok were announced earlier in the United States. These restrictions are due to alleged ties between the parent company and the Chinese government.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the governors of the states of Wisconsin and North Carolina signed orders banning Tik Tok in government offices. Ohio, New Jersey and Arkansas took similar measures last week.

The actions of some states have also gone beyond tick-tock. New Jersey and Wisconsin, for example, have banned vendors, products and services from other Chinese companies, including Hikvision, Tencent (the owner of WeChat), as well as Russian company Kaspersky Lab’s products from government agencies.

After Christopher Wray announced in November that TikTok posed national security threats, calls to ban the app from government devices intensified. Warai had warned that the Chinese government could use the app to influence users or control their devices.
