The White House refuses to comment on Biden’s latest conversation with Ashraf Ghani

A White House spokesman declined to comment on US President Joe Biden‘s latest leaked telephone conversation with former Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani before the Taliban came to power.

Asked about Biden’s latest leaked conversation with Ashraf Ghani, White House spokesman Jen Saki said he did not intend to go into the details of private diplomatic talks.

He added, however, that no one expected the Taliban to gain control of Afghanistan quickly.

Reuters recently reported, citing a leaked telephone conversation between Biden and Ashraf Ghani on July 23 before the Taliban came to power, that the two sides did not discuss the possibility of Afghanistan falling.

According to the report, the two sides discussed military assistance, political strategy and tactics related to messaging, but Biden and Ashraf Ghani did not appear to be aware of the immediate danger of Afghanistan falling and the Taliban taking power.

In this conversation, Biden told Ashraf Ghani that you have 300,000 armed forces against 70,000 to 80,000 and they are clearly able to fight well.

According to the report, Biden told Ashraf Ghani that if we knew what the Afghan government’s plan was, we would continue to provide air support.

A White House spokesman also said Washington was working on military bases to build a capacity of up to 50,000 to accommodate Afghan refugees.

According to him, these people will be introduced to organizations and institutions for resettlement after receiving the necessary assistance, services and health care.

US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland told a news conference about remaining US citizens in Afghanistan that Washington was looking for safe ways to help expel US citizens and permanent residents seeking to leave Afghanistan.
