The wave of French government action against Muslims and the hijab

In recent years, the anti-Islamic actions of the French government, especially against the hijab, have intensified in this country.

Pak Sahafat News agency – In January 2022, French lawmakers voted in favor of banning women from wearing hijabs in sports.

By doing so, French lawmakers once again showed the world that when it comes to more politicization, targeting European Muslim women, France is snatching the lead from other countries.

The French Senate voted 160 to 143 in favor of banning the use of the hijab and other “religious symbols” in sports.

But this is not the only anti-Islamic act in France, and in recent years we have always seen the passage of such laws in French institutions.

The move follows other laws banning religious symbols in France, including in schools.

Earlier, the French Senate voted in favor of a bill banning the use of the hijab by people under the age of 18.

The bill also bans the presence of veiled mothers in school camps.

In addition, the French Senate has approved a plan to “ban prayer in universities”; the bill was widely opposed by senators, but was eventually approved.

France’s anti-Islamic activities have increased, especially in recent years during the presidency of Emmanuel Macron.

An estimated 5 million Muslims live in France, but the policies of the Macron government have paid little attention to this issue.

A wave of strong criticism against Paris after the new restrictions on hijab

France’s attempt to expand the hijab ban in the country is a racist and colonial project disguised as supporting secular values in the country.

This project inflicts the harms of Islamophobia on Muslim women; In fact, forcing women to remove the hijab is misogynistic and hateful.

In recent years, many Muslims and people of color have been exposed to divisive political rhetoric about Islam, immigration, and race.

In just two years, France is hosting the Olympic Games, which are set to bring countries together in a united show of global learning; a divisive and discriminatory ban on the hijab sheds more light on how upset France is about building a multicultural issue.

The ban on hijab in France affects many Muslims in the country, but French authorities have nevertheless decided to continue to treat the Muslim population in the country, especially French Muslim women.

Emmanuel Macron announced controversial bills last October in a bid to counter the dangers of what he calls “Islamic separatism.”

The bill was debated between the French lower house, the National Assembly and the Senate, and was finally approved by a vote of 49 to 19.

France’s highest constitutional authority also approved the bill, removing only two articles.

The Anti-Separatism Act has far-reaching implications for the religious freedom of Muslims in France; these include close monitoring of religious sites and organizations, as well as restrictions on the study of Muslim students at home.

Despite the French government’s repeated insistence that these laws do not necessarily differentiate the Muslim community, it is clear that the “anti-separatist” law targets Muslims because of its disproportionate impact on the freedom of Muslim women.
