The reaction of the Saudi government to the announcement of the formation of the new government of Afghanistan

In its first reaction to the announcement of the formation of a new Afghan government by the Taliban, Saudi Arabia expressed hope that the formation of a Taliban government would bring stability and security to the country.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday expressed hope that the formation of an interim Taliban government would help bring stability and security to Afghanistan and put an end to violence and extremism.

The Saudi Foreign Minister stated: “We hope that the formation of an interim government in Afghanistan will be the right step towards achieving security and stability and avoiding violence and extremism and a bright future.”

According to the Saudi state news agency WAS, Faisal bin Farhan stressed that Saudi Arabia emphasizes supporting ways in which Afghanistan can overcome its current challenges.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced the new Afghan government at a news conference yesterday, 20 days after capturing Kabul.

It is said that the Ministry of Women’s Affairs is not specifically listed in the list of Afghan government ministries.

A Taliban spokesman said the next government would try to use different ethnic groups and involve all walks of life in Afghanistan.

A Taliban spokesman, while announcing his responsibilities in the new government, said that “Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzadeh” would continue to be the leader of the Taliban and that the name of the new government was “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan”.
