Pak Sahafat – Following the statement of the Zionist Prime Minister’s Office regarding the arrest of a Russian-Zionist citizen in Iraq, Baghdad announced the start of an official investigation.
According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from the Iraqi media on Friday, Bassem Al-Awadi, the spokesman of the Iraqi government, announced: The Iraqi government is investigating Elizabeth Tsurko, a Zionist citizen.
Al-Awadi added: Since this matter is at this level, no official statement will be issued in this regard until the Iraqi government completes its official investigation and reaches a conclusion.
He emphasized: After the completion of the investigation, the Iraqi government will officially comment and take a position on this matter.
These statements were made after the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed in a statement on Wednesday that “forces affiliated with the Iraqi Hezbollah battalions have taken an Israeli-Russian woman hostage.”

The Iraqi Prime Minister’s office emphasized that “this woman is still alive and we hold the Iraqi government responsible for her health.”
This statement also states that this woman was kidnapped in Iraq 4 months ago and is still alive.
Hebrew-speaking sources say that this Zionist woman was kidnapped 4 months ago by a group of 3 women from a sports club in the center of Baghdad.
Yediot Aharanot newspaper quoted a friend of this Israeli woman and wrote: She is a former soldier of the Israeli army who participated in the summer 2006 war against Hezbollah in Lebanon (33-day war).
Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in Baghdad announced that “we have no information about Elizabeth Tsurko, neither about his nationality nor about what happened to him in Iraq.”
