The British Prime Minister’s father received French citizenship

Stanley Johnson, the 81-year-old father of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was granted French citizenship on Wednesday.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency International Group, AFP quoted confirmed sources in the Justice Department as saying that Stanley, the father of Boris Johnson, had become French.

Stanley Johnson was born in England on August 18, 1940 to a French mother; Like Boris, his son is a conservative. Boris Johnson’s father announced in 2016 that he was opposed to Britain leaving the EU, but changed his mind a year later.

According to Euronews, he submitted his application for French citizenship to the Consulate General on November 18 last year.

The text provided to France Press by the French Ministry of Justice states that Stanley Johnson, considering the provisions of the formal request submitted by him and the Ministry’s non-opposition to this request after the expiration of the legal deadline set in the Civil Code on May 18, 2022 Receives French citizenship.

The statement stressed that French citizenship belongs only to Stanley Johnson and does not include his children. The French consul in London is expected to personally provide Stanley Johnson with the title of nationality and related documents.

Stanley Johnson, who represented Britain in the European Parliament from 1979 to 1984, told a French radio station in December 2020 that he would “always be European”.

He cited maintaining “ties with the European Union” as a justification for applying for French citizenship, which Britain has officially parted with since February 2020.
