Tel Aviv boycotts EU peace envoy

Hebrew-language sources reported that Tel Aviv had boycotted the EU envoy for Middle East peace over the EU’s recent stance on the Gaza Strip.

Hebrew-language sources reported Wednesday evening that Tel Aviv had banned a meeting with EU envoy for Middle East peace Esson Kopmans.

“Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed” newspaper quoted the Zionist website “Vala” as saying in this regard that the move comes in protest of the European Union’s recent stance on the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and War last week boycotted any meeting with the EU peace envoy tasked with reviving the “peace process” in Palestine.

The website Vala quoted the official sources of the Zionist regime in this regard that the Tel Aviv State Department is “angry” at the position of EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell during last month’s aggression in the Gaza Strip.

According to the report, Tel Aviv stated that the reason for this anger was that Borrell did not “strongly” condemn the firing of Palestinian resistance missiles into the depths of occupied Palestine.

The sources reported in this regard, Tel Aviv’s outbursts of anger intensified when, during the recent war, Joseph Borrell called for an immediate ceasefire in occupied Palestine, stressing that all but one EU member state approved the ceasefire.

Vala also reported that Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi had a “difficult” phone call with Borrell during the invasion of the Gaza Strip and protested against this stance.

The sources reported that Tel Aviv had rejected Esson Coopmans’ request to Ronnie Lesheno, the Israeli representative in the European Union, to arrange a visit to Tel Aviv in protest of Borrell’s behavior.

At the end of the report, Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed notes that Kopmans expressed solidarity with Tel Aviv last week and visited areas damaged during the resistance attacks.
