Taliban: From the very beginning, the United States chose war instead of negotiation

The head of the Taliban’s foreign ministry stating that diplomacy was not a tool to impose ideology, said that Mullah Omar, the founder of the Taliban in 2001, wanted to negotiate with the United States, but they chose war.

Pak Sahafat- Amir Khan Mottaqi, the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, told the Antalya Diplomatic Council in Turkey that a weak government in Afghanistan was not in anyone’s interest.

At a meeting today (Saturday, March 12) attended by a member of the Turkish House of Representatives and Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamelov, he said that countries around the world should work with the group instead of putting pressure on the Taliban.

In his statement, Mottaki called on the world to work with the Taliban in economic self-sufficiency and in stable Afghanistan. He also called for the release of frozen central bank reserves and the lifting of sanctions.

The head of the Taliban’s foreign ministry told a meeting today that it was not clear what kind of government the world wanted in Afghanistan.

He clarified: “What kind of government does the world want from us?” Does he want it like the communist government? Is the government like the one formed under the leadership of Hamid Karzai in Bonn? “Or like the government of Ashraf Ghani, which divided all the tribes and the result of its elections was not known in one year?”

Mottaki added that the Taliban government has met all the conditions for identification. He said that the governments that emerged through coups and revolutions are now official; but why does the world not recognize the Taliban?

Regarding the inclusiveness of the government in Afghanistan, Mottaki said that the Taliban government is now inclusive and has ministers from every ethnic group and province. He added that reforms in the government “are inevitable; “But what is important for Afghanistan is security.”

In another part of his speech, he stressed that diplomacy is not a tool to impose ideology and should be used to prevent war.

Amir Khan Mottaqi said that Mullah Omar, the founder of the Taliban in 2001, wanted to negotiate with the United States, but they chose war.

Mottaki stressed that the Taliban is trying to manage the economic crisis in Afghanistan and has been somewhat successful.

He called on the world not to interfere in Afghanistan’s reconstruction and to allow Afghans to build their own country.

The acting Taliban’s foreign minister went on to say that the United States had not been able to stop ISIS in Afghanistan, but that with the Taliban, the ISIL operation had ended.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum started a few days ago in Antalya with the slogan of rebuilding the diplomatic approach. This meeting is still going on with the presence of political cadres and more than 80 ministers from different countries.

The meeting, which is aimed at reviewing the course of diplomacy at the international level, says that diplomacy should be able to replace war.

Amir Khan Mottaqi also attended the meeting, and Tom West, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan, was also present.
