Pak Sahafat – Defense minister of Taiwan has said he will not buy new US anti-submarine warplanes made by Lockheed Martin because they are too expensive.
According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, quoting Rasha Today, Chiu Koo-cheng said in a parliamentary hearing on Thursday: The price offered for helicopters is very high and beyond the capacity of our country.

However, local media reported that Washington had opposed the sale of the helicopter to Taiwan. U.S. officials say the helicopters exceed Taiwan’s needs.
The United States has guaranteed security for Taiwan and its allies in Southeast Asia over the years.
Most countries, including the United States, do not have formal diplomatic relations with Taipei because Beijing considers the island part of its territory and seeks its reunification with China.
