Saudi gifts to Trump were counterfeit

The number of gifts given by Saudi officials to Trump and his entourage was 82 gifts, which included common goods such as shoes and medals, as well as several precious gifts.

According to the Pak Sahafat news agency, former US President Donald Trump received many gifts from the royal family during his visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2017.

According to the New York Times, the number of gifts given by Saudi officials to Trump and his entourage was 82 gifts, which included ordinary goods such as shoes and medals, as well as several precious gifts.

Among them, three coats made of white tiger and leopard skin and a dagger with ivory-like handle was known as very expensive gifts.

Although holding such gifts under U.S. law violates the Conservation of Endangered Species Act, Trump kept the gifts to himself.

On the last day of the Trump administration, the White House delivered the goods to the Department of Public Services, which legally must be transferred to the U.S. Department of Fish and Terrestrial Ecology.

According to Middle East News, the agency tested the goods after they were confiscated, and the test results were surprising to everyone: all three coats were made of artificial leather and not natural leather.

The report added that it was not clear whether Saudi officials were aware of the artificiality of the gifts.

In 1966, the US Congress passed a law that barred US officials from keeping gifts worth more than $ 415.
