Saudi Arabia’s sharp reaction to America’s anger

Pak Sahafat – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia announced in a statement on Thursday morning, in response to the anger of the United States that the Riyadh government was cooperating with Russia to reduce oil production: Riyadh will not accept any dictates or behavior aimed at diverting efforts to support the global economy.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency from Saudi media, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia announced that the government of Riyadh has received statements regarding this country after the decision of OPEC+, which seems to indicate that this decision was a politically motivated decision against the United States of America.

This statement emphasized: The Saudi government declares its complete opposition to these baseless statements, which seek to push the decision of OPEC+ out of its purely economic framework, while this decision was made by full consensus and by all OPEC member countries.

It is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia that the output of the OPEC+ meeting is made by the group agreement of the member countries, and no country alone can make this agreement, and from the economic point of view, this decision considers the balance of supply and demand in the oil market and seeks to prevent fluctuations that benefit no one of the producers and consumers of oil, a measure that OPEC+ members have always observed.

This statement states: Through consultations with the US government, Saudi Arabia made it clear that all economic analyzes indicate that postponing the decision to cut oil production for a month, as suggested, would have negative economic consequences.

Saudi Arabia also announced that attempting to distort the facts regarding the position of this country regarding the war in Ukraine is a regrettable action, because the government of Riyadh has not changed its principled position regarding this crisis and has always supported the decisions made in the United Nations regarding this crisis.

The statement added: At the same time, Saudi Arabia is trying to maintain its relations with all friendly countries, but at the same time, it does not accept dictates and is against any behavior and attempts to divert the lofty goals that are trying to defend the global economy against the fluctuations of the oil market.

Saudi Arabia announced that solving the challenges and economic problems of the world requires a constructive and non-politicized dialogue and that it can be looked at with prudence and rationality and in a way that is in line with the interests of all countries.

This statement adds: Saudi Arabia’s emphasis is that it looks at relations with America from a strategic point of view and in line with the common interests of the two countries.

Saudi Arabia announced that the government of Riyadh emphasizes the need for bilateral relations to be based on solid foundations such as mutual respect, strengthening common interests, effective participation in maintaining regional and global security and peace, fighting terrorism and extremism, realizing prosperity and prosperity for the nations of the region.

Earlier, Faisal Bin Farhan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, also stated that the decision of OPEC+ was purely economic and had no political dimensions.

He added that this alliance seeks to stabilize energy markets and advance the interests of producers and customers.

The Saudi Foreign Minister also claimed that relations with America are stable and strategic, and that military cooperation between the two countries has led to peace and stability in the region.

The statement of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs is published while John Kirby, the spokesman of the Washington National Security Council, said on Tuesday that President Biden believes that the United States should review relations with Saudi Arabia in light of the OPEC+ decision.

Kirby added: I think the president has stated very clearly that these relations need to be re-evaluated and we are willing to review it.

Bob Menendez, the Democratic Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate, also called for the termination of cooperation with Saudi Arabia, including in the field of arms sales to Riyadh.

The OPEC+ group announced on Wednesday last week that it will reduce its oil production by 2 million barrels per day, and this action, which is considered the biggest reduction since the corona epidemic; it was met with a sharp reaction from American officials who are worried about the increase in the price of gasoline in their country.

The price of Brent crude oil increased by more than 1% and reached nearly 93 dollars per barrel, and the price of American oil increased by 1.5% to 87.75 dollars.

This agreement was reached despite the pressure of the US and other countries for more production and it limits the supply in the market which is currently in a tight spot.

Citibank analysts have said that the increase in oil prices with a significant reduction in the production of this product can anger the Biden administration on the eve of the mid-term congressional elections.

Referring to the anti-monopoly bill of the US against OPEC, these analysts said that the new decision of OPEC+ can provoke more political reactions from the US, which includes the release of more strategic reserves and the expansion of NOPEC bills (against OPEC).

JP Morgan’s forecast has also shown that Washington is putting countermeasures, including the release of more oil reserves, on the agenda.
