Russia: NATO seeks to create a negative image of China

Pak Sahafat – The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is trying to create a negative image of China in people’s minds so that they can talk about China’s threat.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from TASS news agency on Saturday, Maria Zakharova said about the results of the recent meeting of NATO leaders in Vilnius: Step by step, NATO is trying to create a negative image of the Heavenly Empire (the old name of the country of China) in the minds, so that they can talk about the threat that Beijing is now facing to the West.

Zakharova noted that NATO countries are trying to create alliances in the Asia-Pacific region with their allies.

Earlier, during a meeting on the sidelines of the Vilnius Summit, South Korea and NATO agreed to participate and cooperate in 11 new areas, including cyber defense and anti-terrorism cooperation in order to deal with common security threats.

Referring to the invitation of four NATO partner countries to the Vilnius meeting, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yul said: At a time when security in the Atlantic and security in the Indo-Pacific region are inseparable, close cooperation between Indo-Pacific countries such as Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand is more important than ever.

According to this report, the final statement of the NATO summit on July 11 in Vilnius pays a lot of attention to China.

NATO leaders called China a “systemic challenge” in their two-day meeting. In this statement, NATO members also claimed that “China’s ambitions and coercive policies challenge our interests, security and values.”

It is also stated in this statement that the deepening of the strategic partnership between China and Russia is in conflict with the values and interests of NATO.

A senior Chinese official has recently announced that Beijing and Moscow are working together to promote multilateralism and democracy in international relations.

The spokesman of the Chinese delegation to the European Union said regarding the joint statement of the NATO leaders on Tuesday: NATO’s expansionist ambitions and hegemonic motivations are clearly evident.

The delegation warned that China will resolutely defend its sovereignty, security and development interests and strongly oppose NATO’s eastward expansion in Asia and the Pacific. And he reminded that any action that undermines China’s legitimate rights and interests will be met with resolute countermeasures.

Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said on Wednesday that the world is concerned about the large amount of nuclear weapons of NATO member countries, and asked the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to stop its baseless accusations and provocative statements against China’s nuclear weapons.
