Putin in a meeting with Xi Jinping: A unipolar world is unacceptable

Pak Sahafat – Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping: Attempts to create a unipolar world “are completely unacceptable to the vast majority of countries on the planet.”

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Samarkand, Putin stated in his meeting with Xi: Attempts to create a unipolar world have recently taken a very ugly shape and are completely unacceptable to the vast majority of countries on the planet.

At the same time, he announced Moscow’s readiness to “play a leading role” in putting the world on a “stable and positive development path”.

Putin noted, the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization “are faced with the task of ensuring the comprehensive strengthening of the member states as a platform for constructive and constructive interaction.”

He clarified: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization includes countries with different civilizational and cultural traditions, foreign policy guidelines and national development models.

The Russian President said: “However, the creation of work based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, respect for each other’s sovereignty made this organization become an effective mechanism for multilateral cooperation in a short historical period.

Putin stated: Russia firmly adheres to the principle of one China and condemns US provocations in Taiwan.

He clarified: At the end of 2022, we can expect that the trade turnover between the two countries will reach a record. Previously, Moscow and Beijing were obliged to increase this figure to 200 billion dollars, and soon this goal will be achieved.

Putin stated: Multilateral relations between our countries are actively developing, last year trade turnover increased by 35% and exceeded 140 billion dollars. According to him, “in the first 7 months of this year, the volume of mutual exchanges has grown by another 25%.”

In a conversation with his Chinese counterpart, Putin also said that Russia condemns America’s provocative actions and listening to its orders in the Taiwan Strait.

He said: We appreciate China’s balanced stance on the Ukraine crisis, we understand the concerns in this regard, but we will explain our position.

For his part, Xi Jinping said that the world is facing “enormous changes unprecedented in history”.

According to him, the People’s Republic of China and its Russian partners are ready to “provide an example of a responsible world power and play a leading role in bringing such a rapidly changing world on the path of sustainable and positive development.”

This is the second meeting between the leaders of Russia and China in 2022. The last time Putin and Xi Jinping met was in February of this year, when the Russian president went to Beijing for the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympic Games.

Putin, Xi Jinping and other leaders will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit on Friday (25 September). After a three-year hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic, this will be the first meeting to be held in person.
