President of the Security Council: The situation in Afghanistan is a difficult problem

Pak Sahafat – Ms. Pascal Baerysville, Switzerland’s ambassador to the United Nations, whose country has assumed the rotating presidency of the Security Council for the first time and the rotating president of this council, said that the situation in Afghanistan is a “very difficult problem” to deal with.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, Bayrisville told reporters at the UN headquarters on Monday local time: We do not have a magic solution for the situation in Afghanistan. I sincerely hope that the Doha meeting will lead to a discussion on how to handle the situation in Afghanistan.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Monday to host a two-day summit on Afghanistan. The purpose of this meeting is to reach a common ground in the international community on how to interact with the Taliban.

Switzerland’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations also said about Ukraine that at the moment we do not have a plan in the Security Council to review Ukraine, but several countries have their own proposals that they can raise in the Security Council.

He added that on the 23rd of this month, there will be a meeting of the Security Council on the topic of protecting civilians around the world, which the President of Switzerland will chair.

The Swiss ambassador continued: Switzerland has always been neutral, but this neutrality does not mean disregard, especially when international laws are violated. Therefore, our position regarding this war has been clear since the first day and we have criticized it.
