Patrushev: The West revives colonialism by suffocating independent states

Pak Sahafat – The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, said that the strategy of the West in suffocating independent states is nothing but the revival of the old methods of colonialism, which collapsed in the middle of the 20th century mainly due to the efforts of the Soviet Union.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, during his visit to Algeria on Monday, Patrushev said in an interview with Rossiskaya Gazeta: Algerian people were among the first nations to free themselves from the yoke of colonialism and set a successful example in the struggle for freedom.

He added: “Algerian people know better than anyone else that colonialism always brings evil with it in whatever guise it uses.”

Referring to the French nuclear tests in Algeria in February 1960, Patrushev said: Hundreds of thousands of Algerians are still suffering from the effects of dozens of nuclear explosions. I believe that we should together ask the international community to remember these and other similar events because such crimes know no boundaries.

The Secretary of the Russian Security Council emphasized that the policy of the West has turned Africa and the Middle East into one of the most unstable regions in the world.

He added: We are witnessing the consequences of the obvious intervention of the West in regional affairs. The hot spots they created in countries like Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and other countries are still in force. This issue contributes to the spread of terrorism and arms and drug trafficking.

The Secretary of the Russian Security Council met with the officials of the Ministry of Defense and the commanders of the Algerian Army during his trip to Al Jazeera and discussed security cooperation.

This is the first visit of the Secretary of the Russian Security Council to Algeria since 2018.
