Pakistani and Tajik leaders discuss Afghanistan

After some remarks between the Taliban and Tajikistan, the Pakistani Prime Minister spoke with the President of Tajikistan about Afghanistan.

According to the regional office of Pak Sahafat News Agency, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan contacted Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon following some sharp remarks between Tajikistan and the Taliban.

Imran Khan said after his recent visit to Tajikistan that he had begun consultations with the Taliban to form an inclusive government and include representatives of Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks in the government.

According to a statement issued by the President of Tajikistan, Rehman stressed that the situation in Afghanistan is still in the spotlight on Monday and that the events in this country have a direct impact on the overall situation in the region.

The President of Tajikistan added that the establishment of comprehensive dialogue between the various factions of Afghanistan is one of the important factors in restoring peace and stability in the country.

He also stressed Tajikistan’s readiness to work constructively with all Afghan stakeholders to facilitate the dialogue process.

The statement added that the two sides agreed to continue their contacts on Afghanistan at all levels.
