Pakistan and China call on the international community to help Afghanistan

The leaders of Pakistan and China in a joint and rare call called on the international community to urgently send humanitarian and economic aid to Afghanistan, which is currently facing food and medicine shortages.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke on the phone about Afghanistan and then announced that the people of Afghanistan need international help to solve their own problems and prevent instability and rebuild their country after the withdrawal of the United States and the takeover of the Taliban in August.

The latest developments come a day after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Taliban representatives in Qatar to discuss a wide range of issues.

Pakistan and China have long been allies and have been sending humanitarian aid to Kabul for the past two months.

Pakistan calls on the international community to release Afghanistan’s assets so that Kabul can use its money to prevent the crisis from escalating.

The latest developments come a day after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Taliban representatives in Qatar to discuss a wide range of issues.

At present, the Taliban government does not have access to the Central Bank of Afghanistan’s $ 9 billion reserves, most of which are held by the New York Federal Reserve.
