Pak Sahafat – Mike Pence started his presidential election campaign by attacking former US President Donald Trump, saying that he violated the principles of conservatism and abandoned his responsibilities when his supporters attacked the Congress building.
According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, quoting from the Associated Press, Referring to Trump’s request to cancel the results of the 2020 US presidential election, Pence said at a ceremony hosted by CNN in Des Moines, Iowa: Trump asked me to choose between him and the constitution. Now the voters are also faced with the same choice.
Pence is the first vice president in American history to challenge his president.
In his speech, he also criticized the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, but directed the most severe criticism at Trump.

Pointing to Trump, Pence said: I believe that someone who puts himself above the constitution should not be the president of the United States. Also, a person who wants another person to put him above the constitution should not be president of the United States again.
According to Axios, in another part of his speech, Pence pointed out that America is “in a lot of trouble” and criticized Biden and the Democrats for the “crisis on our borders”, inflation and “disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan”.
He also discussed the war in Europe and said: America should provide the resources needed by the brave soldiers of Ukraine to face the Russian invasion and restore the territorial integrity of that country.
Mike Pence, Trump’s former vice president, announced his candidacy for the intra-party phase of the 2024 US presidential election from the Republican Party by registering with the Federal Election Commission this week, thus becoming a rival of his former president.
