Pak Sahafat – Italy announced on Friday that it will temporarily close access to chatbot “ChatGPT” and will begin an investigation into the violation of laws related to the collection of information by this artificial intelligence.
According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, citing Reuters, Italy’s “Information Protection Authority” known as “Garante”, accused ChatGPT, which is owned by “Open AI” company, of failing to control the age of its artificial intelligence users.
The Italian body also said Friday that ChatGPT has “no legal basis for the extensive collection and storage of personal data.”
Italy’s decision was announced to OpenAI on Friday morning, and access to the ChatGPT chatbot is expected to be temporarily closed from Saturday.

According to Reuters, access to ChatGPT is blocked in China, Hong Kong, Iran, Russia and parts of Africa where it is not possible to open an OpenAI account.
ChatGPT was launched last year, prompting OpenAI competitors to launch similar products.
The number of active users of this chatbot reached 100 million two months after its launch, in January.
