Inflation in America; Increasing military families relying on food banks

Pak Sahafat – The rising trend of food prices in America continues and an American media wrote today: The number of military families who rely on food banks is increasing day by day.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from “CBS News” news channel on Wednesday, according to the data of the “Counseling Network for American Military Families”, at least one out of every six military families faces food insecurity; This ratio compared to 2 years ago was one to eight.

In the meantime, American food banks are also facing several obstacles, including inflation, to keep their food warehouses full.

The director of a food aid center in Killeen, Texas, says he sees more people in military uniforms coming to the center these days than ever before.

He continued: Five years ago, when this center was established, we accepted about 600 military families, but in the last year, nearly 2,000 families have visited this center.

Gypsy Jones, a US Army soldier, is one of the visitors to this center and says that the number of military families who come to this center for help is increasing day by day.

He says that 80% of the food he and his three children need is provided through food banks, and the army’s salary does not cover living expenses. According to him, in the absence of these support centers, he will have to find a second and third job.

This US Army soldier pointed out that some soldiers do not mention this issue due to shame, but in his opinion, there is no problem in receiving these aids in case of need.

The consumer price index in America increased by 0.1% last month (November) after increasing by 0.4% in October. But food prices increased by 0.5% last month after increasing by 0.6% in October.

The results of a new Gallup survey show that more than half (55%) of American citizens have experienced financial problems caused by inflation, and 13% say they are under severe pressure.

Yesterday, US President Joe Biden acknowledged the increase in prices in this country and claimed that his country’s economy is on the right track. He added: “The prices are still very high and we have a lot of work to do, but the conditions are improving.”

Economists predict that the Central Bank of America’s efforts to curb high inflation by increasing bank interest rates will increase the unemployment rate in this country by at least 5.5 percent.

Increasing sanctions against Russia on the one hand and sending tens of billions of dollars in financial aid and military equipment to Ukraine on the other hand, not only did not support the Western strategy in support of Kiev, but also fueled the intensification of inflation and economic stagnation in America and Europe. It has brought internal protests.
