Guterres: The biggest terrorist threat in Western countries comes from the extreme right

Pak Sahafat – The Secretary General of the United Nations, in response to the failed coup attempt by the extreme right-wing group known as Reich Citizens in Germany, stressed that such threats should be decisively fought.

According to the report of the Pak Sahafat news agency, quoted by the German newspaper “Tugschau”, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, also reacted to the recent coup d’etat plan of the group known as Reich Citizens in Germany, which was suppressed.

He emphasized: The biggest terrorist threat in western countries comes from the extreme right. This threat must be fought decisively.

In early December, German federal prosecutors arrested about 22 people who allegedly wanted to overthrow the political system in Germany. The investigators of this case accuse the suspects of this project from the so-called “Reichburger” scene of being members of a terrorist organization.

In a speech, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres used these coup plans as an opportunity to warn of right-wing terror around the world. Guterres said in New York: “It has been shown that the greatest terrorist threat in Western countries today comes from the extreme right, from neo-Nazis and those who believe in white supremacy.”

He added: Every form of neo-Nazism, anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim hatred must be confronted clearly and decisively. Guterres said: This is clearly a threat and we must fight this threat decisively. The events in Germany are just one example of the threat to democratic societies around the world.

“Citizens of the Reich” are people who do not recognize the Federal Republic and its democratic structures. According to reports, the arrested conspirators wanted to form 286 “internal security companies” to carry out arrests and executions after the coup.

Investigators also found ammunition belonging to the group in German army warehouses. Former army officers and police officers were among those arrested.

Also, one of the former representatives of the extreme Alternative for Germany party was among those arrested, which caused a lot of controversy.

The Speaker of the German Parliament has announced plans to tighten security measures in the German Parliament in view of the recent large-scale operation against the citizens of the Reich who were planning to overthrow the government.

According to the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office, the members of this right-wing network planned to forcefully enter the German parliament with a small armed group.

The Speaker of the German Parliament said that talks are currently underway with the security officers of the parliamentary factions. According to him, various measures have been discussed that should be decided at the beginning of next year.

After the attack on the “Citizens of the Reich”, Nancy Pfizer, the Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany, announced recently that strict measures will be taken against these anti-government efforts. This politician of the Social Party said in an interview with the newspaper De Volte: We will continue to take a hard line against the enemies of the government, which is why I’m sure we’ll find more. Pfizer accused the radical Alternative for Germany party of being spiritually close to the Reich’s citizen milieu.

German Federal Interior Minister Nancy Pfizer also expects more attacks on right-wing extremists after the recent large-scale operation against citizens of the Reich. This politician of the Social Democratic Party stated in an interview: We will find more things. He announced a tough approach against the enemies of the government.

He again emphasized the need to tighten gun laws. “We need to keep weapons away from extremists and people who have a gun license should be checked regularly,” he told the newspaper De Volte.
