Foreign Policy: It is time to end US unconditional support for Israel

An American newspaper Foreign Policy reported that a recent issue of Zionist atrocities in the Gaza Strip showed that it was time for the United States to end the old clichés of “Israel’s right to self-defense” and end its unconditional support for the regime.

In a note written by Stephen Walt, a well-known American theorist and professor of international relations at Harvard University, Foreign Policy reported that it was time for the United States to end its “special relationship” with the Zionist regime.

This report begins with a reference to the recent atrocities committed by the Zionist regime against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip during the 12-day war, as the latest round of clashes between the Zionists and the Palestinians ended in the usual way: With the ceasefire that has worsened the situation of the Palestinians and key issues remain unaddressed.

Explaining the reasons why the United States should end its special relationship with Israel, the report wrote that the Zionist regime is not a liberal democracy in which all religions and races have equal rights, and that Israel, according to the “goal of Zionism”, is consciously Jewish considers it superior to other races and religions.

Supporting Israel will create many problems for Washington

The American publication went on to say that although in the past the Zionist regime was a valuable strategic asset to the United States, today Washington’s unconditional support for the regime poses more problems for the United States than it does for solving a problem and therefore the continuation of a special relationship with the Zionist regime increases the costs for the United States.

According to the report, critics of US support for the Zionist regime are very dissatisfied with the more than $ 3 billion in military and economic aid provided to the Zionist regime each year.

The United States is making empty promises to the Palestinians by supporting Israel

Foreign Policy then referred to Biden’s contradictory approach and said when the United States stood alone and vetoed three UN Security Council resolutions, consistently granting the Zionist regime the right to defend itself, authorizing the sending of $ 735 million in weapons to the Zionist regime, and making a series of empty promises to the Palestinians, this government’s claim of moral superiority and conscience is empty promises and a kind of hypocrisy.

Negotiating Burjam would have been easier without Israeli opposition

In the memo, Stephen Walt also noted the negative impact of US unconditional support for the Zionist regime on Iran’s nuclear talks, and wrote that negotiations on a US return to the IAEA would have been easier if the Biden administration had not faced Netanyahu’s continued opposition.

The United States ignores Riyadh’s violations for the sake of Israel

The report also said that the US desire to protect Israel also forced Washington to establish unnecessary relations with other West Asian states, which is not strategically appropriate, for example, US support for the Egyptian dictatorship has been partly aimed at establishing good relations with the Zionist regime and opposing Hamas, while the United States tends to largely violate Saudi Arabia’s violations, including its airstrikes in Yemen and assassinations  Jamal Khashgechi, a critical Saudi journalist, because Riyadh’s tacit alignment with the Zionist regime has deepened.
