The nature of the explosion is still unknown. Some unofficial sources say that two missiles hit near the coast of Jaffa.
Israeli television channel 12 reported minutes later that the army was investigating reports of several rockets being fired from Gaza off the coast of Jaffa.
At the same time, a video was posted on social media that a rocket was said to have hit near the shore.
The Kan network also reported that at least one rocket had exploded off the coast of Jaffa port near Tel Aviv.
Hebrew-language media reported that at least three explosions have been heard in Tel Aviv, and it appears that this is a message from Palestinian groups in Gaza regarding the capture of Hisham Abu Hawash, who has been on a hunger strike for 138 days and is in a dangerous situation.

A Tel Aviv police spokesman said he had received reports of a deep-sea explosion off the coast of Tel Aviv and that there were no reports of casualties.
