Erdogan: We forget the differences with Saudi Arabia and the UAE

Pak Sahafat – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara has overcome differences with the two Arab states, citing “many commonalities” between his country and the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency report on Friday, quoting the Anatolian news agency, he said: Turkey’s differences with Saudi Arabia and the UAE were not so significant, there are also differences within a family that we have all gone through now, and it plans to rapidly develop bilateral relations in the fields of trade, industry, defense, culture and tourism we are taking steps to implement these programs.

He assured: The path that Turkey has taken in relation to the two countries will lead to very important achievements at the commercial and political level.

Erdogan traveled to the UAE last week to attend the funeral of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, In November 2021; the then Emirati Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayedullah also visited Turkey. These bilateral trips have entered a new era in relations and cooperation, especially in the economic field.

Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia, Erdogan continued: The process of relations with Saudi Arabia is also in a more positive atmosphere and is moving in a better direction.

He stressed Turkey’s cooperation with the two countries in transferring Ankara’s experience in the defense industry.

A few days ago, Erdogan traveled to Saudi Arabia and met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, The meeting took place after a period of intense tension in bilateral relations between Riyadh and Ankara over various issues, including the case of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashgeji.

Prior to the meeting, Turkey announced that it had handed over the case of the perpetrators of Khashgeji’s murder to the Saudi judiciary. Ankara’s move improved the process of improving relations between the two countries. On the other hand, the media reported on Saudi Arabia’s desire to lift the ban on imports of Turkish products and to stop Riyadh’s media attacks on Turkey in recent years.
