Damascus: Silence of human rights claimants encourages Zionist to commit more crimes

The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the Zionist regime’s attacks on its territory on Friday morning and called on the international community, the United Nations and the Security Council to fulfill their duties and responsibilities.

In separate letters to the UN Secretary-General and the Chairman of the UN Security Council, the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Syria, which killed and wounded a number of Syrian citizens.

In response to Friday morning’s attacks, the Syrian Foreign Ministry stressed that the criminal attacks on the outskirts of Hama (the provincial capital of the same name in western Syria) were a clear violation of Syrian airspace and sovereignty, as well as a clear violation of human rights law.

In a letter to the United Nations and the Security Council, Syria called on the two international bodies to live up to their responsibilities in the face of such attacks, including condemnation.

According to the SANA news agency, the letters read: “(Israel) on Friday, January 22, launched a new attack on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic around the city of Hama, as a result of which a family; “Fathers, mothers and two children were martyred and four other citizens of the same family were injured. A number of houses of innocent civilians were also destroyed.”

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said that the number of Israeli airstrikes on the country in less than a year was tens of attacks, and that a large number of civilians were killed and their property was destroyed.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the Zionist attacks as well as the significant silence in the face of these attacks by many human rights activists in the international community, saying that this encouraged the Israeli occupying regime to continue its attacks on Syria.
