Britain addresses the Taliban: recognition will not be possible if the current path continues

Pak Sahafat – British ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Barbara Wood Ward, warned the Taliban government: by continuing the current path, international recognition will not work and sanctions will not be lifted and development aid will not be provided.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Barbara Woodward, British ambassador and representative to the United Nations, added on Wednesday local time at the Security Council meeting about Afghanistan: Two-thirds of Afghanistan’s population will need humanitarian aid in 2023. Taliban: The words of the human rights special rapporteur are lies and negative propaganda

He clarified: The Taliban has issued more than 50 orders that have restricted the rights of women and girls and hindered the ability of the United Nations to provide humanitarian aid in times of need.

Woodward continued: The path is negative and the options are limited. We remain steadfast in our commitment to support Afghans. The international community must remain united in its message to the Taliban. In April, we unanimously agreed to a resolution condemning restrictions on the rights of women and girls.

The British ambassador to the United Nations said: Finally, these clear expectations must be accompanied by clear consequences, the continuation of this path by the Taliban will not result in international recognition, the cancellation of sanctions and development assistance will not be provided. We know that continuous engagement, based on these principles, is the only way forward.
