American plane flies near Russian military bases on Syrian soil

A US strategic reconnaissance aircraft flew over the Mediterranean Sea for three hours on Saturday near the logistics center of the Russian navy in the port of Tartus and Hamimim air base in Syria.

According to the international group of Pak Sahafat news agency, quoted by “Interfax” news agency,  Western aviation sources say a US Air Force RC-135U strategic reconnaissance aircraft flew over the Syrian coast in the Mediterranean for several hours on Saturday, near the fleet’s technical and logistical facilities. The Russian navy flew over the Syrian port of Tartus, as well as Russia’s Hamimim air base in Latakia province.

According to the information, the American electronic reconnaissance plane took off from the air base of the country on the Greek island of Crete and continued to fly for more than 3 hours in the skies of the Mediterranean Sea near the coast of Syria. The plane flew at the closest distance to Syrian airspace and flew at least 18 times to Russian military bases on Syrian soil during its presence in the region.

It should be noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that last week alone, the country’s radars detected the presence of 48 reconnaissance aircraft and 10 reconnaissance drones belonging to foreign countries near the country’s national borders and monitored their flight path.

According to the report, Russian airspace was not violated in any of the cases, but Russian fighters were forced to take off four times to keep the planes away from the country’s national borders.
