American cooperation with Eastern European countries to help export Ukrainian grain

Pak Sahafat – According to an American official, this country is working with Eastern European countries to maximize the flow of grain exports through the Danube River.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, citing Reuters, The United States is working with Romania and Moldova to increase Ukraine’s grain exports via the Danube River, a senior State Department official said Wednesday, as an alternative route after Russia pulled out of the Black Sea grain export plan.

The American official, who asked not to be named, said: Washington intends to test all alternative routes, including the Danube River.

He added: Since the Danube River flows through the territory of NATO member countries, it is a suitable route for the export of grain, and we will try to double the amount of exports from this route.

In the coming weeks, the United States is scheduled to hold a meeting with officials from Romania and Moldova to maximize the flow of exports through the Danube route.

The grain agreement, which was brokered by Turkey and the United Nations in July 2022, had made it possible to export grain from Ukrainian ports, but last month Moscow withdrew from the agreement and accused the West of ignoring Russian grain and fertilizer exports in the agreement.
