Maulana Fazlur Rehman has convened a PDM meeting in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has convened a PDM meeting in Islamabad.

The meeting, to be chaired by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, will decide future strategy to oust the PTI-led government, according to sources.

Besides reviewing the process of the vote of confidence sought and secured by Prime Minister Imran Khan, the meeting will also discuss a strategy for the Opposition’s planned Long March and the election of the Senate chairman.

The PDM has previously announced a long march to Islamabad on March 26.

In this regard, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had earlier clarified that the Opposition’s leaders and workers will not arrive in Islamabad for a short stay but will sit there and protest against the government till their demands are met.

Yesterday, the PML-N also held an important meeting to discuss plans related to the anti-government long march.

In addition, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Hamza Shahbaz also met to discuss important political developments, including the possibility of an in-house change in the Punjab Assembly.

Previously, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had clarified that the Opposition’s leaders and workers will not arrive in Islamabad for a short stay but will sit there and protest against the government till their demands are met.

The meeting will also discuss a strategy for the Opposition’s planned Long March, which is scheduled for March 26, and the election of the Senate chairman.

Mr Gilani said the PPP was thankful to the Maulana who being the PDM head, gave them an opportunity to host two public meetings of the alliance (in Karachi and Multan).

He said despite all hurdles created by the government, the PDM event was successful and, as a result, now the government ministers were themselves admitting their approach was wrong. “Why these ministers were unable to judge the public sentiment,” he asked.

He said Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari had participated in the rally as PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari was in quarantine after he tested positive for the coronavirus.

However, he added that Mr Bilawal would represent the party in the PDM’s Lahore rally scheduled for Dec 13.

Mr Gilani said he was also thankful to the people of Multan who participated in the public meeting in a large number.
