Saudi Arabia at the bottom of the table of political participation in the Persian Gulf region

According to a Saudi think tank, it has the latest ranking of political participation in the Persian Gulf.

According to the Pak Sahafat News Agency, quoted by Saudi Leaks, Saudi Arabia ranked last in political participation in the Persian Gulf region due to the repression of Al Saud against the opposition and the control of Saudi institutions.

The House of Persian Studies and Publications, which conducted the poll, said that Saudi Arabia scored only 227 points out of 1,000 in the Political Participation Index, the latest ranking in the Persian Gulf.

According to this index, Saudi Arabia advanced in 6 stages (general elections), (civil society institutions), (gender equality and youth participation), (transparency), (freedom of opinion and expression) and (foreign societies) and still most of them Lagged behind.

Saudi Arabia remained at zero on the scale (of political organizations) and low on the scale of (constitutional life) and (transparency).

The index underscored Saudi Arabia’s need to expand its political participation and decision-making framework, in particular to strengthen and expand the powers of elected councils, improve election laws, promote equal citizenship, and ensure the freedom of opinion and expression of those involved in politics.

Saudi Arabia has recorded disappointing results in the participation of political organizations and the guarantee of the right to political action.

The results of this survey show a significant decrease in the level of political participation and a decrease in the ability of citizens in the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf to participate and contribute to public decision-making and policy-making in their countries.

It is worth noting that the rest of the GCC countries are witnessing a significant reduction in general election laws and the management and effectiveness of elected councils and their powers.

The countries of the Persian Gulf (United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain) have adopted discriminatory and unjust representation policies to guarantee the right to participate in elections for legislative and municipal council elections.

While there is no political participation in the selection of GCC-designated governments, the powers of oversight, accountability, impeachment, and confidence-building are often denied or limited.

According to an analysis by the Freedom House Studies Organization, Saudi Arabia ranked last in the Arab world in terms of freedom of expression via the Internet and among the top 10 worst countries in the world.

According to the Global Democracy Index, Saudi Arabia is also in a state of disarray due to its repressive and brutal policies and the lack of a democratic system in it.

Researchers say the result is based on Saudi Arabia‘s horrific record of torture, executions, extrajudicial killings, kidnappings, brutal detentions and the death penalty. In terms of facilities and quality of life in terms of human rights, Saudi Arabia received a grade of 10, which is the lowest among 34 other countries. This is due to the ban on protests in the country, restrictions on freedom of expression, the formation of civic institutions and the inability of citizens to vote.
