9 strategic equations that the resistance imposed on Tel Aviv during the 12-day war

The victory of the Palestinian resistance in the recent 12-day war against the Zionist regime imposed new strategic equations on the regime, which was unprecedented in the history of the two sides.

The victory of the Palestinian resistance over the Israeli occupier in the recent invasion of the Gaza Strip created new equations for the resumption of the conflict, its causes and timing, and brought about many changes in the equations already established in Palestine.

“Arabi 21” news site published a note in this regard: “Although there have been three previous wars between the resistance in Gaza and the occupiers, this is the first time in the history of the wars between the two sides that the cause of the war has not been limited to the Gaza Strip and a symbolic issue behind it. This led to the emergence of new equations with the beginning of a widespread intifada in Palestine and widespread Arab solidarity. These equations defeated the reality imposed by the occupying regime, which created the separation of the Palestinian people.”

The memo states the new equations imposed on the occupiers by the victory of the resistance during the recent 12-day war, which are as follows:

The issue of Palestine cannot be eliminated

The memo said the victory of the resistance for Al-Quds and its confrontation with the Israeli aggression in Gaza brought the Palestinian cause and cause back to the forefront of Arab and Islamic issues. A situation we saw only on “Yom al-Nakba” (the tragedy of the occupation of Palestine) in 1948.

Although the focus on Palestine was a central issue and a common issue between Arabs and Muslims, in recent years, in the wake of the region’s flare-up, the Syria-Libya war, the ongoing political crisis in Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon, and the ongoing rifts and major breakdowns. Along with the counter-revolutionary consequences, this issue was marginalized.

The following is the note: “One of the consequences of the victory of the Palestinian resistance is the return of the Palestinian cause to the forefront of foreign and domestic media and political circles. During a period of seven decades – especially after the normalization of Arab relations with Tel Aviv and the deal of the century – the strong support of Israel in the international community caused Palestine to be removed from the circle of special attention in these circles.

The author goes on to emphasize that Palestine also snatched the lead from the Israeli side in the media battle and in gaining public support, and was victorious in this area. Thus a new equation emerged, citing European and American statements to deepen the narrative of the Palestinian cause, the return of international diplomacy to speak out on the Palestinian state, the Palestinians’ right to form and recognize it and demands to return to negotiations to escape the victory of the resistance and its consequences.

Existing and imposed reality (Status quo)

The following is the note: Among the equations that changed the victory of the resistance was the failure of the Israeli occupation efforts to redefine the status quo imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Quds, known as the “Status Quo”, as part of a plan to annex and dominate more Palestinian territory. This is evident in the outbreak of widespread popular intifada throughout Palestine, from Jerusalem to the West Bank, the 1948 Occupied Territories and Gaza, and the emergence of national cohesion and unity despite all the occupiers’ efforts to divide Palestine geographically and demographically.

According to this analysis, this showed that the Palestinians do not recognize the current situation and the reality that the occupying regime has been seeking to impose for years, and this regime also failed in this regard.

The return of faith to victory

The author further emphasized that after the victory of the Palestinian resistance, the military progress and defeats inflicted on the Israeli occupier raised the possibility of a Palestinian victory again, and the Palestinians, Arabs and activists once again spoke of the possibility of a final and practical victory one day.

The normalization of relations failed

According to this note; Although the past period has seen an acceleration in the formal normalization of relations between some Arab countries and the Zionist regime and the emergence of public despair and the impact of this normalization on the Palestinian cause, the recent war came and with it the widespread Arab solidarity with the resistance in Gaza. The Arab nations shouted for the books of Izz al-Din al-Qassam and other factions and militant groups and the right of the Palestinian people and its cause and Jerusalem.

“Political analyst Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jamal says: “This battle thwarted the efforts of the compromising countries to divert their people from the Palestinian cause and destroyed the slogan ‘Palestine is not my issue’ which the media and their electronic mercenaries tried to instill in the public opinion of these countries.”

Al-Jamal explained: “This battle undermined the image of the occupying government in the region, which was promoted by some compromising countries. A government that was destabilized in the face of an enemy such as the Gaza resistance with limited resources. The battle for resistance also reinforced the rise of voices in the international arena criticizing the negative impact of the normalization agreement. The fact that the normalization of relations between some Arab countries and Israel has created the perception among some in Israel that the Palestinian issue is over,” said Joseph Borrell, the new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Forced migration

In recent years, the Zionist regime has intensified its policy of forced migration in Palestine in general and the city of Jerusalem in particular, but the victory of the resistance in Gaza for the neighborhood of “Sheikh Jarrah”, whose residents are in danger of forced migration, had the advantage that the occupiers were forced to delayed this issue for fear of its dangerous consequences.

Referring to this achievement of the resistance, the author stressed that the issue of Sheikh Jarrah is now at the center of the crisis with the occupier, and forced migration is under the lens of the international community and world solidarity, which is a shame for the Israelis. This will be reflected in other areas of Quds and the West Bank, such as the neighborhood of “Batan al-Hawi” in “Salwan”. So much so that social activists and Palestinians have been focusing on the need to show solidarity with and support the ventricular issue in recent days.

Failure of the “Israeliization” equation

According to this analysis, another equation that changed during the recent battle of the Gaza resistance with the occupiers is the equation of Israeliization. Israel worked hard to successfully implement this equation, emphasizing that it was convincing the world with new laws concerning Palestine and its ideals, and instilling in them that it would grant equal citizenship to Palestinians.

Use weapons as an action not a reaction

The author goes on to write that Gaza’s response to the occupiers’ invasion of occupied Jerusalem created a new symbolic equation that created a national blessing throughout occupied Palestine, and for the first time in Palestinian history, a general strike took place on May 18, 2021.

Past wars began for reasons directly related to the conflict between Hamas and the Israeli occupation, and began in response to the escalation of the siege of the Gaza Strip and its aggression or the assassination of its leaders and military wing. But the recent war was an act of resistance by the Gaza Strip to help Jerusalem and related to the Palestinian national struggle throughout the occupied territories without any division.

The need to communicate with Hamas

The recent war has prompted American and European minds and Arab mediators to acknowledge the importance of including Hamas in the sphere of political action in the international arena.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has established contacts with Hamas, an important sign of the international openness to the movement and its acceptance as a major player in the Palestinian arena. Merkel said he confirms indirect contacts with the Hamas movement in Gaza, and that this is crucial to achieving a ceasefire with the Israeli occupier.

The emergence of this new equation could provide an opportunity to return to the indirect negotiations between Hamas and the occupiers over the prisoner exchange case. In Jordan, meanwhile, there have been popular calls for a resumption of political ties with Hamas, emphasizing that the movement is a key player in the Palestinian cause.

Palestine Internal Needs

Contacts from various sides with the Hamas movement are expected to increase after the war, and this is an opportunity to end the Palestinian Authority monopoly, reform the Liberation Organization, and end security coordination.

Arab al-Rintawi, a political analyst, says the world seems to be convinced of the imbalance between the Palestinian internal forces. Today, Hamas, not the Palestinian Authority, is the pillar on which the mythical stability of the Palestinian people rests.
