US: We would like to talk to Iran about the exchange of prisoners

A State Department spokesman expressed readiness to hold talks with Iran on the exchange of prisoners.

State Department spokeswoman Jalina Porter told a daily news conference that the government is ready to exchange prisoners with Iran.

In a press conference on Wednesday evening, a journalist referred to the remarks of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in an interview with Politico regarding Tehran’s position on the talks with the United States. He asked that Mr. Zarif told in that interview that Iran saw no reason to talk to America but iss ready to talk about the exchange of prisoners between the two sides.

“Galina Porter said: “Of course, we are always ready to engage meaningfully and enter into meaningful diplomacy with Iran, and they welcome us to join them at that table.”

He continued his remarks on the issue of prisoner exchange: “This is one of the many issues we want to talk about with Iran and we are willing to do it.”

The Biden administration has said it intends to bring the United States back to the Borjam nuclear deal that Donald Trump withdrew from in May 2016.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in an article recently published in Farnaferz magazine, unconditionally waived the condition for the US to return to the UN Security Council and the condition of all sanctions imposed, reimposed or relabaled.

On the other hand, the Biden government has stated that the condition for returning to Borjam is Iran’s withdrawal from the compensatory measures that Tehran has put on the agenda in response to the withdrawal of the United States from Borjam and the non-fulfillment of the promises of the European parties.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has stated that it is not in a hurry to return the United States to Borjam, and that Washington is not in a position to stipulate the implementation of this agreement due to its unilateral violation of Borjam.
