US-linked groups attack Iraq’s Balad air base

An Iraqi security expert has said that the United States and its affiliated groups are planning and bombing Balad and Erbil air bases.

Sabah al-Akili, an Iraqi security expert, stressed that resistance forces were not responsible for the bombing of Balad and Erbil air bases in Iraq.

Al-Akili told Al-Maulouma News Agency that the resistance forces are free from bombing Balad, Erbil and the “Kafri” area.

He added that the analysis showed that the United States and its affiliated groups had been responsible for the recent planning and bombing.

The Iraqi analyst noted that the first party to take advantage of the attacks is the US occupying forces to justify their presence under the pretext of supporting Iraq against terrorism.

News sources reported on Sunday evening that a rocket had hit the Balad air base in Iraq, stressing that at least five explosions had taken place near the air base.

According to these sources, the military contractor Sally Porter, affiliated with the occupying US army, based at Balad Air Base, has been targeted by a number of rockets.

Following the rocket attacks, American helicopters flew widely around Balad Air Base.

Iraqi security sources said three rockets hit the Balad base in northern Baghdad and two more rockets hit the base, where F-16 fighter jets are stationed.

At least two people were reportedly injured in the rocket attack.
