Sheikh Al-Azhar in the Security Council: put out the fire of wars in the region

Pak Sahafat – In a speech at the Security Council meeting, Sheikh Al-Azhar called for an end to multi-year and pointless wars in the region, focusing on the importance of strengthening the values ​​of human brotherhood, compromise, mutual respect and its importance for the expansion and continuation of peace.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from Russia Al-Youm website, Sheikh Al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayeb said in this meeting that was held through video conference: My purpose of participating in this meeting and speaking in it was to extinguish the fire of futile wars that have flared up in recent decades and continue to this moment.

Al Tayeb added: I am talking about the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan and the tragedies, pains and sorrows that followed for twenty years. I am talking about Syria, Libya and Yemen and the destruction of their deep civilizations rooted in thousands of years of history, the armed conflicts in their lands and the flight of their children, women and children and their flight from the horrors of a war in which they have no part.

He added: I am talking about my and your sanctities in Palestine and what the Palestinian nation is suffering from the arrogance of power and the oppression of the tyrant, and I am very sorry for the silence of the international community in the face of the deprivation of the rights of this proud nation.

Sheikh Al-Azhar continued: I am asking the Security Council to recognize the independent state of Palestine as the center of Quds Za as soon as possible. I also demand the protection of the Al-Aqsa Mosque against the ever-increasing attacks of the Zionists.

This is the first time that the Security Council hosts this type of negotiations with the presence of a group of decision-makers, political leaders, and two of the world’s greatest religious leaders who are symbols of peace, namely Sheikh Al-Azhar and Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s Catholics; Two figures who signed the historic document of human brotherhood in 2019.

This meeting is a historic and unique opportunity to focus on the important and outstanding role that religious leaders play in strengthening the values ​​of human brotherhood and strengthening peace.
