Middle East: Saudi Arabia declared one of the worst human rights violators in the world

The Human Rights Initiative (HRMI) said in its latest report that Saudi Arabia is one of the most inefficient and insecure countries in the world in terms of human rights.

According to Middle East I, the Human Rights Initiative, an organization run by activists, researchers and academics, released its annual report on Thursday, which scores different countries for government security, empowerment and quality.

Among the 36 countries surveyed, Saudi Arabia scored 2.4 out of 10 points in terms of government security, the worst score after Mexico.

This privilege was due to Saudi Arabia’s poor record of torture, executions, extrajudicial killings, disappearances, arbitrary arrests and executions.

Last week, Saudi officials announced that they were seeking the abolition of the death penalty, but last week the Saudi Interior Ministry announced the execution of Mustafa bin Hashim bin Isa al-Darwish, a young Shiite man accused of taking pictures of the 2012 protests and participating in “violent protests.” .

In terms of empowerment, Saudi Arabia still has the lowest score (one in 10) among the 36 countries studied.

This privilege is the result of the government’s ban on protests, restrictions on freedom of expression and civil society organizations, and the inability of citizens to vote or participate in public life.

According to the organization, Saudi Arabia has not released accurate information about the quality of life.

According to IRNA, the report was welcomed by human right activists in Saudi Arabia.

Julia Lagner, head of the advocacy department at the London-based NGO Al-Qast, said: The report of the Human Rights Initiative clearly shows the deteriorating human rights situation in Saudi Arabia.
