Iraqi source: The United States was aware of a drone strike on the Ain al-Assad base

A security source in Iraq said the Americans had information about a possible attack on the Ain al-Assad base and they were aware of it.

An Iraqi source claimed that US forces at the Ain al-Assad base in western Iraq had information about an attack on the base last night.

The website of the RT news network (Rashatoudi) quoted an unnamed Iraqi security source as saying: Hours before the attack, intelligence reached US forces. “They, in turn, were ready to confront the two birds and shoot them down.”

Last night, the media reported that alarms were activated at the Ain al-Assad base, and an hour later it was announced that the incident was the result of a drone attack on the Ain al-Assad base. The base was attacked by two drones this morning. The bomber struck shortly after 1:35 a.m. local time and US forces quickly closed the road leading to the base.

The Iraqi news agency Nas also reported at the same time that the Iraqi Information Center had confirmed the drone strike on Ain al-Assad. The statement said that the air defense base at Ain al-Assad base “collided with two drones and was able to shoot them down.”

According to the military source, “the information obtained indicates that in the coming period, not only will these attacks [on the positions of the US military occupation in Iraq] not cease, but they will increase.”

Many Iraqi parties and groups are calling for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. They consider the presence of US troops on their territory after the parliament passed a resolution calling for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq.
