Hamas: We will turn the elections in Jerusalem into a political war against Israel

A member of the Hamas political bureau said that elections should be held in Jerusalem and that the Zionist regime has no right to interfere in this matter.

Khalil Hayeh, a member of the political bureau of the Palestinian movement Hamas, said the movement was moving hard to participate in the election.

In an interview with Al-Quds newspaper, Hayeh said that Hamas is ready to present a single national list that includes the widest range of Palestinians.

He stated that the national interest requires the formation of a unity government after the elections; A government in which all Palestinian groups are present and perform their duties in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The Hamas official continued: “We call for elections to strengthen internal unity, restore our national institutions, and rebuild the Palestinian political system through democracy.”

Regarding the elections in Jerusalem, Haya said that this was “a national position and a position of the Hamas movement, and it is a red line that it cannot cross.”

The Hamas leader noted: “We have to agree that the election in Al-Quds will be held in the best possible way and we will not back down in any way … we have to stand up to Israel … this is a national war.”

In the end, he threatened that if the Zionist regime insists on interfering in the Palestinian elections, Hamas is also ready to disrupt the situation in the next elections of this regime.

The head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, set the date for parliamentary, legislative, presidential and national elections in late December.
