From where is ISIS funded?

The targeting of the US military convoy in northern Baghdad, the role of the popular uprising in drying up ISIS funding in Diyala, and the emphasis of the Iraqi National Security Adviser on the importance of intelligence combat in the fight against the Takfiris are among the most important Iraqi security news.

An Iraqi security source said that an explosion targeted an international coalition logistics convoy in Iraq, quoting Baghdad Al-Youm.

The source said the US coalition logistics convoy was targeted on the Baghdad road to Salah al-Din, north of the Iraqi capital.

Rocket attacks and explosions along the lines of supply convoys and the support of the international coalition and the Americans have recently intensified and continue in Iraq.

Iraqis are strongly opposed to the continued occupation by foreign forces, according to a parliamentary resolution passed by parliament.

Government delays in implementing agreement to withdraw US troops from Iraq

On the other hand, Abbas al-Ardawi, an Iraqi security expert, said that the al-Kadhimi government had not reached the most important agreement, which was the expulsion of US troops.

Al-Ardawi stressed that the government has not fulfilled its promises to the nation and is moving to delay the withdrawal of US troops.

He added: “The non-expulsion of American troops affects the security and sovereignty of Iraq, and this is dangerous.”

The current battle is an information battle

“The current battle is an information battle,” Qassim al-Araji, Iraq’s national security adviser, told a meeting of the National Intelligence Coordination Board, which was attended by members of the board.

He added: “ISIL’s movements must be discovered with all care and seriousness, and pre-emptive strikes must be carried out on it before any criminal action is taken.”

ISIL attacks power transmission towers in Ninawa

ISIL takfiri terrorists bombed power transmission towers in Ninawa province.

An Iraqi security source said that ISIL terrorists targeted two electricity pylons near the village of Omarkan in the Al-Nimrud district of Ninawa province, which caused extensive damage to the two electricity pylons.

ISIL funding sources

“Sadegh al-Husseini,” the spokesman for the Diyala axis of the Iraqi popular uprising, announced: In recent years, ISIL has resorted to tools such as kidnapping, extortion and robbery in some areas of Diyala to finance itself, and finances itself from inside Iraq.

He added: “The presence of the popular mobilization has had positive results in closing the relief routes to ISIL.”

Al-Husseini said that cutting off ISIL’s financial support had played a significant role in weakening its dormant nuclei. All the efforts of the popular mobilization are to dry up the financial resources and to try to find ways of foreign financial support for this terrorist group, because it is very dangerous and complicated.

Turkey’s greedy eyes for Mosul and Kirkuk

Ahmed al-Sharifi, an Iraqi security expert, referred to Turkey’s prospects for Mosul and Kirkuk, and described Ankara’s plan for the next two years as an attempt to annex the two to Turkish territory.

He referred to Turkish military operations deep in Iraq under the pretext of the presence of PKK elements, and said that the main purpose of these attacks was the annexation of Kirkuk and Mosul of Iraq to Turkey.

Strengthen the security of the Iraqi-Syrian border

For the second week in a row, Iraqi security forces have stepped up security at the country’s western border with Syria in Anbar and Ninawa provinces, including deploying more units, installing watchtowers and surveillance cameras, and digging new trenches.

According to Iraqi military sources in Baghdad, the new operations are being carried out on the border as elements of the ISIS terrorist group have been trying to enter Iraq from Syria in recent weeks, taking advantage of the weather and reduced visibility in the border area.

The sources stressed that measures such as the deployment of new units of the army and border guards, the digging of long ditches, the installation of watchtowers, night-vision cameras in addition to the installation of barbed wire and warning signs have been taken.

Yahya Rassoul, a military spokesman for Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, also said last week that the prime minister had ordered control of the border with Syria and the installation of thermal cameras and the strengthening of military units.

At the same time, Iraqi Defense Minister Juma Anad visited the headquarters of the Iraqi Army’s 15th Division in the western province of Ninawa on the border with Syria.
