This letter states: None of the issues that started the Syrian conflict, especially the crimes of the Assad regime and its inability or refusal to reform, have not been resolved. Many signs of conflict such as human suffering, drug trafficking on an industrial scale, refugee flows, terrorism, geopolitical conflicts, and ethnic and sectarian animosities are worsening.

In the continuation of this letter, it is stated: In the current policy, the priorities of the foreign policy of the Biden government, i.e. the competition of great powers, international stability and the Middle East, human rights and the fight against food insecurity, have not advanced enough.

The authors of this letter have claimed: The efforts of some regional governments to normalize relations with Syria do not pay attention to the interests of American national security or human rights issues, and reduce the capacity of the international community to shape a political process aimed at a meaningful solution to the Syrian crisis.

After the visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the United Arab Emirates on the 28th of March, Syria and Saudi Arabia recently agreed to reopen their embassies after more than 10 years of breaking diplomatic relations.
