Complete monitoring of virtual space in Saudi Arabia

Pak Sahafat – Saudi Arabia’s Akaz newspaper wrote that the observation center of the Saudi General Prosecutor’s Office monitors cyber space and social networks 24 hours a day to ensure the legality of what is published in this space.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Saudi Arabia’s Akaz newspaper quoted the observation center of the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office as saying: This surveillance includes any crime in the cyber space that is monitored through a technical team by determining the date and place and the amount of legal punishment and it will be determined whether this crime requires the issuance of an arrest or summons order or not.

The Saudi Cyberspace Monitoring Center has announced that this action is aimed at protecting the cyberspace and protecting the rights of users and protecting public interests, public morals, and dealing with lawbreakers.

According to this report, among the violations announced in Tik Tok program is illegal financial request under the title of support and gifts. And in some cases, false news and rumors are published in cyberspace that have no real basis and reliable information, or violate people’s privacy.

Akaz newspaper adds that publishing audio clips and expressions against public morals and insulting others with the aim of gaining fame is considered an information crime, and anyone who publishes news, statements or rumors with the aim of committing a terrorist crime will also be punished.

In Saudi Arabia, damage to public order, religious values, public morality, privacy of individuals, sexual assault, acts contrary to Islamic Sharia, and disruption of public security are also crimes.
