The rain disrupted the movement of freight train between Iran and Pakistan

Due to heavy rains in Balochistan province and the destruction of part of the railway, the freight train between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan has been temporarily stopped.

Pakistani media quoted Balochistan Railway officials as saying on Friday: Heavy rains have submerged 10 km of the railway line on the Iran-Pakistan freight train in the Chaghi region.

According to Pakistani railway officials, the 10-kilometer route is completely submerged in rainwater and is severely affected.

The repair and commissioning of the train route between Iran and Pakistan will take between 3 to 4 days.

Recent torrential rains have largely affected the Chaghi region of Balochistan province. Last month, six freight cars overturned near the town of Dalbandin, stopping freight trains between Iran and Pakistan.

Worn-out railway in Pakistan occasionally causes accidents and train stops between the two countries.

Freight train traffic between Iran and Pakistan has increased dramatically in recent years as trade between the two countries has increased. The increase in freight train traffic is in a situation where the Quetta-Zahedan railway, especially from Quetta to the Taftan border area (in Pakistan), has major problems due to its age and needs immediate repair.

The train carries most of its goods such as cement, chemicals and petrochemicals from Iran to Pakistan and some food and agricultural products to Iran.
