The attack on the Brazilian Congress, the association of the Trumpists’ rebellion

Pak Sahafat – The attack by Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters on government buildings and the Brazilian Congress, which is reminiscent of the January 6 riot in the United States, while reports indicate that Trump’s close friends advised this failed politician.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report, quoting from Yahoo News, two years after the broadcast of strange and shocking images of the January 6, 2021 riot of “Donald Trump” supporters against the US Congress building, which surprised the world, now Brazil is also witnessing such attacks by supporters of “Jair Bolsonaro”, the former president of this Latin American country. Yesterday, Sunday, the supporters of Bolsonaro, who handed over the presidency to Luis Lula da Silva in the recent presidential elections, stormed the government buildings in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. Reports indicate that protesters attacked the Brazilian Congress, presidential offices and the country’s Supreme Court and repeated Bolsonaro’s baseless claims that the presidential election was rigged.

During these attacks, the Brazilian police arrested at least 400 people, and according to the report of the Union of Professional Journalists of the Federal District, at least eight journalists were attacked or robbed while covering this event.

According to Yahoo News, Bolsonaro, who is a populist politician and belongs to the right party, in a similar action to Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, who claimed election fraud after holding the presidential election 2 years ago, by making this claim, was the main motivation of his supporters to attack the government buildings in Brasilia. Bolsonaro has even claimed that his opponents tried in 2018, but failed to steal the election results from him.

According to reports, after Bolsonaro’s defeat of Lula da Silva on November 1, his supporters called for a coup and Steve Bannon and Jason Miller, who are close to Trump, were advising him. And beyond that, “Eduardo Bolsonaro”, the son of the former president of Brazil and a representative of this country’s congress, also met him at Trump’s residence in Florida.

The published videos of Bolsonaro’s supporters’ attacks on government buildings in Brasilia remind us of the January 6 riot at the US Congress in Washington, and the protesters broke through the police barricade and broke the windows to reach the Congress just like the same day.

Lula da Silva, the current president of Brazil, who was able to defeat his right-wing rival in the October 30 (November 8) elections, responded to these attacks in a tweet, blaming Bolso Naro personally for these events and accusing him of encouraging his fans to riot. .

Rodrigo Pacheco, the president of the Brazilian Senate, also condemned the attack in a statement and demanded that the police control the situation. Pacheco then added: I strongly oppose these anti-democratic measures.

“Jean-Paul Prats”, another representative of the Brazilian Senate, while accusing Bolsonaro, called the protesters “terrorists”.

But Bolsonaro, while rejecting these accusations, described Sunday’s riot in Brasilia as a kind of peaceful demonstration in the form of law and democracy.

He, who was nicknamed the “Trump of Brazil” due to his actions during his presidency, has so far refused to accept the election results and two days before the end of his presidency and the beginning of Lula da Silva’s term, he sent a video message to his supporters and then the country. He left for Florida. According to Reuters, this act of Bolsonaro can be considered as an escape from Brazil, because with the beginning of Lula da Silva’s presidential term, Bolsonaro’s presidential immunity will also end.
