Ardern emphasized: I am stepping down because this role has responsibilities; The responsibility of knowing when you are the right person to lead and when you are not.

Stating that the general election will be held on October 14, she added that she believes that her party, the New Zealand Labor Party, will win the next election.

According to Ardern, the Labor Party presidential election will be held next Sunday. New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson said that she will not run for party leadership.

Although Ardern has expressed optimism about the victory of the Labor Party in the upcoming elections, polls show that her conservative rivals have a better chance of victory.
