Senior European official: Putting the IRGC on the terrorist list is not a good idea

Pak Sahafat – A senior European Union official said that putting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the list of so-called terrorist organizations is not a good idea.

According to the report of the International group of Pak Sahafat news agency, a senior European Union official told the Wall Street Journal reporter that putting the name of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the list of so-called “terrorist” organizations is not a good suggestion.

Wall Street Journal reporter Laurence Norman quoted this senior EU official, whose name was not mentioned, wrote: I think it is not a good idea because it makes you unable to deal with other issues.

The Reuters news agency quoted two European sources as saying that the European Union does not currently include the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the list of so-called “terrorist” organizations.

An EU diplomat told Reuters: On Monday, we will apply the fourth package of sanctions against Iran and we believe that we should start working on the fifth package to put the IRGC on the list of terrorist organizations.

This European Union diplomat told Reuters news agency yesterday that the IRGC will not be sanctioned for now. He said: If this is to be done, it must have a proper legal basis, and this is what is being discussed. But it will not be ready for Monday.

Commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC: We recommend that the Zionists return to Europe and the United States as soon as possible

A few days ago, in a message, the head of the European Commission supported the inclusion of the IRGC in the list of so-called “terrorist” organizations of the European Union.

On Thursday, the representatives of the European Parliament approved a resolution against Iran, one of the provisions of which calls for the name of the IRGC to be included in the list of so-called terrorist organizations of the European Union. The approvals of the European Parliament are not binding and are considered only as a proposal to the European Council.

The European Parliament’s anti-Iranian action is a follow-up to Trump’s policy, which for the first time put the official military institution of a country on the so-called terrorist list.

The movements of the Europeans to act against the Revolutionary Guards have met with the reaction of the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, called this move out of desperation and added that this action “was done after their unsuccessful street efforts to hit the Iranian people so that they could stop the Iranian nation as they thought. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is an official force and a part of the country’s military organization and this action is against international laws and the United Nations Charter.

Some representatives of the Islamic Council have also warned against such an action. In an interview with Fars political reporter, Seyyed Mahmoud Naboyan, Vice Chairman of the Ninety Committee, said: The European Union, along with the United States, wants to impose sanctions against the Iranian nation and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and in addition to the previous sanctions, it wants to have new sanctions. Nowhere in the world is it customary to sanction the military force of a country, and for the first time Trump did such a thing and sanctioned the IRGC.

Tehran representative then warned: If the interests of the Iranian nation are really endangered, we will put the European Union on the terrorist list, and the defenders of the Iranian nation and the defenders of the resistance in the region know how to face the terrorists.

The European Union official who spoke to the Wall Street Journal on Friday claimed in another part of his statement that Iran is still delivering drones to Russia. The Islamic Republic of Iran has previously rejected the claims of Western countries in this regard.
