Secretly lobbying the Pentagon to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets

Pak Sahafat – A Pentagon official and two other sources told the American publication that the campaign within the Ministry of Defense of this country to send fighters to Ukraine has accelerated.

According to the International group of Pak Sahafat news agency, The American magazine “Politico” reported on Saturday (January 28) citing sources that American officials are quietly pressuring the Ministry of Defense to give the green light to send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. So far, despite Ukraine’s repeated requests, no country has sent Western-made modern warplanes to Kiev.

According to a Pentagon official and two other sources familiar with the matter who interviewed this American media, the campaign within the US Department of Defense to send planes to Ukraine has accelerated. According to the report, the optimism has been partly boosted by the recent decision to send Abrams M1 tanks and Patriot air defense systems to Kiev.

Referring to the potential F-16 deployment to Ukraine, a senior Pentagon official said, “I don’t think we would be against it,” while saying that no final decision had been made. He added that Kiev has not yet insisted on providing the fighter as a top priority and explained that the US is focused on helping Ukraine to meet its immediate needs.

Pentagon: Russia is not as dangerous to America as China

A Politico source said it could take several weeks for the U.S. to decide whether to send fighters to Ukraine or approve re-exports of F-16s from other countries.

After the US and Germany agreed to provide Ukraine with 31 Abrams tanks and 14 Leopard tanks respectively, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky doubled down on his requests for long-range missiles and fighter jets.

Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, Western countries have been providing comprehensive arms support to Kiev and intensifying pressure against Moscow, and this process continues. Following the announcement of Washington and Berlin’s decision to send tanks to Ukraine, Russia has warned that these tanks, like other weapons sent by NATO, will be burned by the fire of the Russian army and has repeatedly said that these actions mean direct participation in the war against Moscow.

Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy of the Russian Security Council, criticized the large-scale shipment of weapons to Ukraine to confront the Russian army on Saturday (January 28): Some defense ministers, including the Italian defense minister, have considered the supply of armored vehicles and other weapons to Ukraine as a way to prevent the outbreak of World War III. They say that all the weapons that NATO has should be given to Kiev now, including fighters and hundreds of tanks and long-range missile systems. This is the only way to block Russia and prevent a world war.

He continued: First, protecting Ukraine, which no one in Europe needs, will not save the old world from punishment. Second, if the third world war starts, neither tanks nor even fighters can be counted on. Then everything will surely be destroyed.

“Vyacheslav Volodin,” the head of the Russian State Duma, also said that sending weapons to Ukraine by the United States and NATO for attacks on Russia will lead to the retaliatory use of more powerful weapons.
