A Taliban government minister announced the possibility of reopening educational centers for women

Pak Sahafat – Shahabuddin Delawar, acting minister of mines of the Taliban government, expressed hope that universities and schools will be opened to Afghan girls by the beginning of next solar year.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Shahabuddin Delawar, Acting Minister of Reconciliation of the Taliban government, said in an interview with TOLO News that female students will be allowed to attend schools and universities after observing the Islamic hijab.

Delavar further added: By April, God willing, a decision will be made that will be in accordance with Islamic Sharia and the laws of the country in schools and universities.

Not long ago, the Acting Minister of Higher Education, Nada Mohammad Nadim, in an official statement, ordered all public and private universities in Afghanistan to suspend the education of female students until further notice.

In response to this decision, the United Nations announced in a statement that it is “deeply concerned” about the ban on the presence and continued activity of female employees in non-governmental organizations.

Josep Burrell, the EU foreign policy official, also asked the Taliban to cancel this decision in line with their commitment to international human rights laws and humanitarian principles.

Meanwhile, the organizations “Save the Children”, “International Rescue Committee”, “Norwegian Refugee Council” and the CARE agency have suspended their activities in Afghanistan and announced: “We cannot help women, children and men without female staff.”
