Pakistan and Russia on the development of relations; “Zardari” on the way to Moscow

Pak Sahafat – Relations between Islamabad and Moscow have grown significantly in recent years despite the stonewalling of the West, especially the United States, and after the recent visit of Putin’s special representative to Islamabad, Pakistan’s foreign minister is going to Russia with orders to strengthen bilateral relations and mutual understanding for the region.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report from Pakistan’s official sources, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has invited his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for an official visit to Moscow and this visit will take place tomorrow.

Lavrov’s invitation to Zardari comes while the special representative of the Russian President on Afghanistan’s affairs visited Islamabad in recent days and met with Pakistani officials regarding bilateral cooperation, especially the review of regional developments.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement and announced today: Bilawal Zardari will make a 2-day visit to this country tomorrow (Sunday) on the official invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

The statement said: Foreign ministers of Pakistan and Russia will discuss a wide range of bilateral relations in their official talks. They also exchange opinions on regional and international issues of interest to the two countries.

The foreign minister of Pakistan, whose country has been angered by Europe and the United States due to its neutral approach in the Ukraine war and at the same time strengthening relations with Moscow, during his trip to the United States, defended the approach of the former prime minister of Pakistan towards Russia as the principle policy of his country.

The visit of the prime minister of Pakistan to Russia despite the explicit opposition of the United States, the continuous absence of Islamabad from anti-Russian meetings in international forums, including the United Nations, and the significant increase in bilateral defense and military cooperation are examples of the efforts of the two countries to develop these relations.

Lavrov’s invitation to his Pakistani counterpart Zardari comes while Washington strongly opposes the development of relations between the two countries, an approach that Russia considers shameful, and Pakistan is determined to expand bilateral cooperation with Russia, ignoring the considerations of the United States.

Last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Pakistan. This is Lavrov’s second official visit to Islamabad as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation after 9 years.
