Pak Sahafat – While the Iraqi sources are planning for the visit of the Prime Minister of this country to Washington, there is an important case in front of Al-Sudani.
According to the report of the International group of Pak Sahafat news agency, a few days ago, Abu Misthaq al-Masari, a member of the Fatah coalition in the Iraqi parliament, revealed that the introduction of the Chinese for the visit of “Mohammed Shia al-Sudani” to Washington is being planned, and that he will go to Washington at the head of a high-ranking delegation, and many related cases will discuss with Iraq with the authorities of this country.
Al-Masari noted that the final time of this trip to Washington has not yet been determined and the contacts with the American side to make this trip continue.
Thaer al-Jubouri, the representative of the Rule of Law Coalition in the Iraqi Parliament, also announced that it is likely that Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani will raise the case for increasing the price of the dollar during his trip to the United States.
Coordination with the American Embassy in Baghdad
Al-Arabi al-Jadeed also reported, quoting two Iraqi officials in Baghdad: “Mohammed Shia al-Sudani”, the prime minister of Iraq, is planning to make an official visit to Washington at the head of a high-level delegation during the next phase.
Al-Sudani is now coordinating with the US Embassy in Baghdad about this trip, and the US is waiting for it because it is aware of the approaches of the new government.
Sudani’s imminent trip to Washington is a common action by all Iraqi prime ministers during the first months of their activities after 2003, but Sudani’s trip as the head of government emerged from a political coalition that has always focused on opposing the United States and trying to end the military presence.
The agreement of the coordination framework of Shiite groups with Sudanese trip to America
In this regard, an official in the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office emphasized in a telephone conversation with Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed: Al-Sudani has obtained the approval of the coordination framework to travel to America and make arrangements with “Alina Romanoski”, the ambassador of this country in Baghdad.
On the other hand, a member of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Iraqi Parliament, who did not want to be named, said: Al-Sudani wants to discuss and exchange opinions about the case of the presence of American soldiers in Iraq.
He said: The coordination framework of Shia groups is trying to renegotiate and cancel the agreement of the Al-Kazemi government with Washington, which changed the title of American forces from combat to advisory forces in Iraq, the coordination framework seeks to completely end the US combat presence in Iraq and limited To do it with military aid and equipping the Iraqi forces.
There is no obstacle in the way of Sudanese travel
This member of the Iraqi Parliament stated: Some political parties, such as the Kurdistan Region, do not agree with this approach and believe that the presence of American forces at the Harir Air Base in the north of Erbil is necessary for the region’s security. According to the available information, there is no obstacle for the Sudanese trip to America, and only the timing has not been determined.
Al-Sudani, in his last stance regarding America, last Thursday at the Al-Hashd al-Shaabi ceremony to commemorate the martyrdom of Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and General Qassem Soleimani, while calling Martyr Soleimani a “guest of Iraq,” said: “The action of the former American government in assassinating the commanders of victory is considered a clear attack on the sovereignty of Iraq”.
The case of US military presence in Iraq
In this connection, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, one of the leaders of the coordination framework of Shiite groups, emphasized: the most important case discussed by the Sudanese in Washington is the case of the US military presence in Iraq, this case is considered one of the priorities of the Sudanese government and its announced plan.
Al-Hayani said: the coordination framework against the existence of diplomatic relations with the US is not based on respect for the sovereignty of Iraq, Iraq needs relations with the US in the field of economy, investment and even security and military experience, but based on agreements that respect the sovereignty of Iraq and avoid interference in Iraq’s political and other affairs should be avoided.
An important case in front of Sudani
On December 31, 2021, the Iraqi government announced the change in the mission of American forces from combat to advisory and announced that the number of these forces is less than 2,000.
American forces in three main bases named “Ain al-Assad” located 130 km from Ramadi city, the capital of Anbar province of Iraq, “Harir” base in the north of Erbil and “Victoria” base near Baghdad airport, where the mission and intelligence analysis unit and the American embassy is located in Baghdad.
The Americans have turned their embassy in Baghdad into a military barracks, and on the other hand, in other bases such as Harir Erbil and Ain al-Assad, they behave with complete freedom of action, and Iraqis never know about the developments that take place inside these bases.
So far, there is no information about American soldiers in Iraq, whether they are all advisers or soldiers, and what has happened to the Patriot system of American forces in Ain al-Assad.
American military convoys are regularly moving between Iraq and Syria. Not long ago, a convoy belonging to the American army entered Iraq from northeastern Syria and the areas under the control of the “QSD” militias by passing through the “Simalka” crossing.
This convoy included more than twenty American Hummer and armored vehicles and several trucks carrying food and logistics, which entered the Harir base in “Shaklaweh” city in Erbil province under the cover and support of several reconnaissance drones.
A security source recently announced the deployment of a missile defense system at Harir base. The Harir base is located in the Shaqlaweh region, 75 kilometers east of Erbil city, and it is the closest American base on the border of Iran, and it is about 115 kilometers away from it.
